Crash statistics for Florida state

Florida is the third most populous state in the  United States  with a population of 20,612,43. The sunshine state has a total of 67 counties.  The top three most populous counties being   Miami Dade county with a population of 2,712,94 , followed by Broward county having a population of 1,909,632   and Palm beach with a population of 1,443,810.

As of September 30th, 2017,  280,940 crashes have been reported for the entire state, with 116,236 injury crashes resulting in 1,77,254 total injuries.  

March had the most crashes with 37,373 injuries and the least injuries in September at 21,708.

There were a total of 2,042 traffic fatalities from 1,917 crashes with  traffic fatalities.

Commerical vehicle crashes were 29,893 with 32,270 commerical vehicles involved.

Property damage crashes: 162,787.  

6,228 crashes involved pedestrians resulting in 410 pedestrian fatalities.

Bicycle crashes were 4,781 with 79 fatalities.

Population Estimate: 257,062

While total crashes are 4373 so far for the year , half are injury crashes at 2,143, leading to 4373 injuries.( For a population of 257000 that is one in 64 people being involved in a crash) .  There are 33  traffic fatalities, and total traffic fatalities are 39 for the year.  Crashes resulting in property damage is more than 2197.  94 pedestrian crashes with 8 fatalities,  119 bicycle crashes with 2 fatalities.

Commercial vehicle crashes are 409 with a total of 442 commercial vehicles involved.

April has the maximum incidents at 546 crashes. July the least with 448

Baker County Crash Data from Jan to Sep 2017

Population Estimate:26,965

Total number of crashes are 263, of which 186  injuries resulted from 118 injury crashes.  2 Traffic fatalities with 2 fatalities. 53 commercial vehicle crashes from 59 commercial vehicles. 143 property damage crashes.  3 pedestrian crashes and no pedestrian fatalities. No Bicycle crashes.

For a population of 27000 people 263 crashes is  roughly one crash per thousand.

March had the most number of crashes at 38 and February the least with 21.

Population Estimate: 176,016

There were 3004 crashes resulting in 1,650 injuries from 1,051 crashes. 22 fatal crashes resulted in 23 fatalities. 238 Commercial vehicle crashes involving 249 commercial vehicles. 1,911 Property damage crashes. 63 Pedestrian crashes with 8 pedestrian fatalities. 44 Bicycle crashes with one fatality.

May had the most crashes at 389 and September the least with 229 crashes.

Bradford County Crash Data from Jan to Sep 2017

Population Estimate: 27,440

Total crashes were 269, of which 103 were injury crashes resulting in 180 injuries. 5 crashes with traffic fatalities resulted in 6 fatalities. There were 44 Commercial Vehicle crashes involving 47 vehicles.  161 property damage crashes reported. 3 pedestrian crashes with 1 fatality. 2 Bicycle crashes with 1 fatality.

February had the most crashes at 34 and August the least with 27.

The incident rate is one crash per 103rd person per 1000.

Brevard County Crash Data from Jan to Sep 2017

Population Estimate: 568,919

Total crashes were 6,502.  Of which 3,008 were injury crashes resulting in 4,578 injuries. 52 Traffic fatalities with 54 fatalities.  592 Commercial vehicle crashes involving 614 vehicles.  3,442 property damage crashes so far. 175 pedestrian crashes with 13 fatalities. 132 bicycle crashes with 2 fatalities.

March had the most crashes at 873 and September had the least at 600 crashes.

Incident rate :  One every 88 people.

Broward County Crash Data from Jan to Sep 2017

Population Estimate: 1,854,513

There were a total of 29,318 crashes in Broward County,  of which 11,819 were injury crashes resulting in 17,466 injuries. A 130 fatal crashes resulting in 138 fatalities.  2,939 Commercial vehicle crashes involving 3,158 vehicles. 17,300 property damage crashes were also reported. 753 pedestrian crashes with 38 fatalities, 537 bicycle crashes with 3 fatalities.

May had the highest number of crashes at 3,675 and the least was in September with 2,222 crashes.

Calhoun County Crash Data

Population Estimate:  14,580

There were 157 crashes, of which there were 85 injuries from 58 injury crashes. There were no crashes with fatalities. 14 Commercial vehicle crashes involving 15 vehicles. 99 property damage crashes. 1 pedestrian crash and 1 bicycle crash and no fatalities.

March had the most crashes at 25 with the least in September at 8

Charlotte County Crash Data

Population Estimate: 170,450

There were 1,999 crashes, of which, 757 were injury crashes resulting in 1,135 total injuries. 18 crashes with traffic fatalities, 21 total fatalities.  272 Commercial vehicle crashes involving 298 commercial vehicles.  1,224 property damage crashes were reported.  34 pedestrian crashes with 3 pedestrian fatalities. 41 bicycle crashes and no fatalities.

February had the highest number of crashes at 257 with July being least at 176 crashes.

Incident rate: one crash per 85 people.

Citrus County Crash Data from Jan to Sep 2017

Population Estimate: 143,054

Total crashes for the year so far is 1,163. Of which, 586 are injury crashes resulting in 916 injuries. 26 crashes with traffic fatalities, and 27 total traffic fatalities.  73 commercial vehicle crashes involving 76 commercial vehicles. 551 property damage crashes reported. 30 pedestrian crashes with 2 fatalities. 17 bicycle crashes with one fatality.

Population Estimate: 205,321

Total crashes were 1925 with 1,230 injuries from 811 injury crashes. 9 crashes with traffic fatalities with a total of 9 traffic fatalities. 182 commercial vehicle crashes, 193 commercial vehicles were involved. 1,105 property damage crashes were reported. 39 pedestrian crashes with 0 fatalities and 30 bicycle crashes with 0 fatalities.

Most incidents were in March at 251 and least in July at 168. September is close at 169.

Collier County Crash Data from Jan to Sep 2017

Population Estimate: 350,202

3,684 total crashes were reported with 1,986 total injuries from 1,392 injury crashes. There were 19 traffic crashes, and 20 traffic fatalities. 77 Pedestrian crashes with 4 pedestrian fatalities. 89 bicycle crashes with 0 fatalities.

467 commercial vehicle crashes so far. 508 commercial vehicles are involved.

2,273 property damage crashes were reported.

March had the most crashes at 498 and least crashes in September at 296.

Maximum crashes occurred in August at 2,103 and the least crashes in September with 1,479

Escambia County Crash Data from Jan to Sep 2017

Population Estimate: 309,986

A total of 4,844 crashes occurred so far in Escambia county. Injury crashes were 2.041, total number of injuries 3,531.  Crashes with traffic fatalities were 32. Total traffic fatalities are 34. Pedestrian crashes are 123 with 10 pedestrian fatalities. 87 bicycle crashes with 1 bicycle fatalities.
